If you've bought too much to easily carry home, you'll want to use one of the international shipping companies located in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) or Hanoi to ship your packages home. If you plan to make large purchases (like beautiful teak furniture or beautiful Vietnamese woodcarving), it's useful to make arrangements with a shipping company before you leave home.

Federal Express
We've used Fedex for shipping packages back from around the world. The service
is fast (from some countries, ground/boat can take months) and they do a
great job with fragile items. They'll provide boxes for you
free of charge, and their agents are able to help you understand customs
regulations for the destination country. Fedex has locations in Saigon
and Hanoi
DHL
Like Federal Express, DHL has locations in both Saigon and Hanoi. DHL
offers quick, reliable service and is sometimes less expensive than Federal
Express. We've had luck in a couple countries with DHL drivers being
willing to come to our hotel and pick up our packages for no additional fee
(which saved us a cab ride).
