Favorite Restaurants
A 16.
2355 Chestnut Ave
There aren't many places in the United States where you can eat authentic,
wood fired, Napoleon style pizza. You won't want to stop with Pizza
though, A 16's menu features it's own cured meat in delicious dishes like
housemade lamb sausage with salsa verde
Ton Kiang
5821 Geary Boulevard, CA, (415) 387-8273
The best dim sum I've had in this country. Dishes are freshly prepared
and delicately seasoned. If the fresh Chinese donuts are available,
don't miss them.
Gary Danko
800 North Point Street, San Francisco, CA 94109-1228, (415) 749-2060
This high end restaurant features contemporary cuisine at its best.
Unless you are dining with a large group, we recommend ordering the tasting
menu so that you get to try as many dishes as possible.
Straits Cafe
3300 Geary Boulevard, San Francisco
This Singaporean restaurant has become a San Francisco institution.
You might not have tried Singaporean food before... and you don't know what
you've been missing. Singapore is at the crossroads of Asian trade,
and not surprisingly the cuisine reflects a blending of the best from many
different Asian cultures
Favorite Shopping
Boulette's Larder is a gourmet food shop on steroids. For example, they sell 11 varieties of salt (none of which you would find in your local market). Located in the Ferry Building Marketplace (which has other gourmet markets)
True Sake is the first retailer in North America to sell only rice wine. You'll be surprised at the variety of styles and flavors available.
