Laguna Beach is a renowned vacation destination because it has some of the most beautiful coastline and public beaches in Orange County. Laguna Beach is fantastic vacation destination for someone looking for a weekend getaway or tranquil vacation. The town also has an offbeat, artsy style that many people enjoy. Hotels can be found along the waterfront - sometimes with private beaches. Restaurants vary from low-key casual places to trendy or formal.
Even if you're staying elsewhere, it's nice to visit Laguna for a day to walk around the shops and galleries and visit the beautiful tide pools (best early in the day or late afternoon)

Las Brisas is an upscale Mexican restaurant featuring fresh seafood. The restaurant has beautiful views of the coastline and is a short (uphill) walk from the center of town. Outside is a casual bar where appetizers and drinks are served. Try the margaritas!
Aubergine in Newport Beach is a fine dining experience you'll probably want to enjoy without the kids. The wine list is wonderful, and this place is a find in Orange County which is generally not known for it's refined dining. The five and nine course tasting menus are unforgettable
Wahoo's Fish Tacos (Laguna Beach and multiple locations) This casual restaurant caters to surfers who want simple tacos made with the freshest ingredients. Their fish tacos are always made with fresh grilled fish - when Wahoo is available, it is a special treat. Wahoo's also has a wide variety of other Mexican dishes
Kitima Thai Cuisine is hidden away in an office park in Irvine - but don't be fooled - it serves Orange County's best Thai cuisine with delicate sauces that are not over-sugary like many Thai fast food places.
