San Diego Wild Animal Park
Visiting the San Diego Zoo's Wild Animal Park is a special experience no matter what age you are. At the Wild Animal Park, animals are allowed to roam freely in fields while visitors travel through the park on an electric monorail or walk the park's trails to visit animals like elephants, rhinos, tigers and lions and the park's extensive botanical gardens
Favorite Attractions
- A photo caravan safari lets you travel off the monorail track and get close to the animals in an open vehicle. Early morning visits are especially wonderful as you get to see the animals at their most active and visit while the zoo staff is still at work. If you can afford the extra charge (about $90 per person) you'll find this special experience to be well worth the splurge.
- Kilimanjaro Safari Walk leads you past many of the big animals and through wonderful gardens
- Dino Mountain is great for kids. Part of the park's forest has been transformed into a prehistoric land filled with Dinosaur Robots including T-Rex, Triceratops, and more.
- Bush Lines Railway takes you on a comfortable journey through the park's unique field exhibits where you'll see large herds of elephants, giraffes, antelope and even rhinos (rhinos are almost impossible to see in the wild because they're so rare and because they're very skittish).
