Amarone Wine from Venice
Amarone Wine, grown in nearby Valpolicella is regional to Venice. All the wines from this region are considered to be excellent, and Amarone is my favorite. Considered to be one of the best wines in Italy it has a strong, dry flavor and is naturally very alcoholic.
The process for making Amarone is a little different than for most wine. The skins are macerated before pressing. Starts as a rich, sweet wine made from selected air-dried grapes but fermented for a very long time (10 to 15 years is not unusual) until the sweetness is removed.
