Sofitel Old Winter Palace Hotel
Located in the heart of Luxor, this beautiful building (built in 1886) is a
welcome retreat after a day of sightseeing. The hotel has relaxing
gardens, a heated outdoor pool. The restaurant has slipped in recent years
and we now recommend eating elsewhere. Our
top hotel recommendation. Ask to stay in the old wing.
Hilton Luxor
On the west bank of the Nile river, 15 minutes outside the city center but
only 5 minutes from Karnak, this modern hotel is a welcome retreat for someone
whose primary goal in Luxor is to see the temples and tombs.
